1. Mixed-Media Canvases

Use the small canvases as a base for an unconstrained piece of abstract art. The goal here is to play with texture and color.

Materials: Small canvases, cheap watercolors, markers, glue, yarn, stamps, and stickers.

The Possibilities: Begin by creating a messy watercolor background. Once it’s dry, use the glue to draw lines or shapes with yarn. Add small details with markers, or use stamps to create a repeating pattern. The final piece is a beautiful, abstract creation that proves that different mediums can work together in a fun, imperfect way.

2. Small-Scale Sculptures

Even without clay or fancy tools, you can create a simple 3D sculpture.

Materials: Kid’s clay, yarn, glue, small sharps, and a few small found objects.

The Possibilities: Find a small cardboard box, a plastic bottle cap, or a tiny rock. Use glue to wrap the yarn around it to create a new form. This is a quiet, meditative process that focuses on the feel of the materials and the slow, deliberate work of wrapping. You’re not trying to create a masterpiece, just an object that is yours.
